An Introduction

Welcome to my small piece of the internet. Here you’ll find posts about my interests and passions; manga, anime, drawing, study, Godzilla, and all things Japan related. In essence I’m a frustrated artist with a life long love of manga and anime that first begun when I encountered TV shows such as; Astro Boy, Star Blazers, Battle of the Planets, Voltron and Robotech. In reality, I work as a graphic designer producing corporate communications, and daydreaming about future holidays to Japan. So far I’ve have managed to take several trips and travel from Nagasaki on the southern end of the main island of Honshu, to Sapporo on the northern island of Hakkaido. In between I’ve devoted days to exploring the frenetic cityscape of Tokyo, experiencing the refined cultural serenity of Kyoto and indulging in the culinary delights of Osaka.

In and around the eat, sleep, work, repeat cycle of life, I enjoy time with my partner, our kiddo, and our two doxies. Looking to the future, my goal is to build upon my previous creative arts studies and pursue a studio-based, practice-led, PhD research project into the visual language and influence of manga. Although convincing an Australian based University of the merits of such research is an obstacle I’m still chipping away at.

Amongst my favourite manga titles are; Lone Wolf and Cub, Akira, Ghost it the Shell, Battle Angel Alita, Fist of the North Star, Genshiken, Black Lagoon, Deathnote, Bakuman, Highschool of the Dead, and for some more recent titles Chainsaw Man, and Demon Slayer 🙂
